//Song Review\\ Beyond the wash explore the mind with new single 'Min/us'
Even when humans are united as a pair, personal egos and resentment can still seep through, ‘Min/us’ tells the story of this kind of mindset, the kind that despite its frequent presence is rarely spoken out loud or addressed instead buried deep and ignored.
‘Min/us’ is the latest single from Cork New Wave Artist Beyond the Wash (songwriter Patrick O’Donnell) following on the artist’s 2019 ‘Murmurings’ EP which featured a mix of stripped back and electronically charged tracks.
‘Min/us’ follows a more electronically charged route with a stripped back quality to showcase a fantastic balance of synth and more human musicality in the form of Patrick’s fluid vocals and beautiful harmonies provided by R & B pop singer Meghan Murray.
Lyrically the track is rhythmic in nature, the story developing with even more detail as the track plays, ‘mistaken identity, you’re not what you used to be’ perfectly encapsulates the track’s message and theme while also providing an excellent showcase of the track’s balanced musicality as mentioned just above.
A follow up for this track is planned for December and if Min/us is anything to go by, it’s going to be another exciting standout track.
Min/us is now streaming on all platforms (click below to stream on spotify).
