Nikki and The Waves declare their love for Corduroy with new single 'E.L.C'
As the summer begins to draw in with gorgeous sunshine, I’m sure many people are searching for their song of the summer season to play alongside picnics, journeys through muddy festival fields and making memories to last a lifetime.
If that is the case for you then you need to look no further than the latest single from Manchester band, Nikki and the Waves, ‘E.L.C’ (Exceptionally Lovely Corduroy).
From the get-go, this track brings a bubbly nostalgia groove with its instrumentation of bright keyboard lines and the distinct vocal tones of lead singer Nikki who details a love for Corduroy fabric (it is a pretty snazzy material if I do say so myself) throughout the lyrics. The track fits perfectly with the concept of the band’s upcoming EP,’ Songs to Play Tennis to’ which is all about romanticising the mundane parts of life.
One of the biggest highlights of ‘E.L.C,’ alongside it’s infectious pop hooks, is the funky bassline that plays through the track’s chorus, with a groove that’s very reminiscent of seventies funk music. This bassline really adds an extra layer of fun and excitement to the track and brings many of the elements together to create a fantastic track overall.
Overall, this track is a gem, whether you’re a lover or hater of Corduroy, this track will instantly improve your summer, especially if you need that extra bit of sunshine.
