Dead!,The Kenneths,Rival Bones,Star and garter Manchester,29th January 2017
According to most people, Mondays suck, they are the worst day of the week. However, Dead! The Kenneths and Rival Bones made it something to look forward to. In a small venue of around 50 or 60 people, they made it feel like there was a thousand. With an energetic audience for all three bands, it was intense. Rival Bones opened the show with a bang and set the loud and exciting tone for the show. Every drum beat and strum of the guitar was felt and welcomed by the crowd and within seconds had people on their feet. One of their most well-received songs was 'Robot Girl' which was introduced as 'this is a song called Robot Girl about a dude'. The Kenneths had a tough act to follow with their early Green dayesque sound and punk attitude. The Kenneths knew how to handle a crowd, each lyric chanted and comedy well received. The Kenneths were both excellent in their performance and how they talked to the crowd. 'my flies are always coming down' Kenneth's lead singer says between one of the songs 'so I've sewn it shut, that won't be happening again'.Kenneths lead singer had a character very similar to Green Day's St Jimmy in American Idiot, energetic, loud and crazy. He used any platform he could find to stand and rock out on his guitar from the benches to crowd surfing on his back he had incredible energy and had the crowd hooked from the first to the last song and left an impression on everyone, every one had their eyes on them and didn't leave their gaze until they played the final riff of the guitars and beat of the drums. They set an intense vibe for Dead! Who didn't disappoint. As soon as dead! Walked on stage the floor was full, chants of fan and band jokes filling the room making the crowd feel so much bigger than it was. Lead singer Alex hooked the crowd in with loud and energetic vocals, which made the lyrics of each song have even more of an impact. The crowd didn't stop, the energy grew with each song, not one crowd member stood still, some
were even dancing with each other within W9. Throughout the show, their were multiple stage divers which were welcomed by the band. The crowd during louder songs such As 'enough, enough, enough' brought a crazy energy to the crowd and even though they were focused on the music and the band, you could see the care for other fans, if a fan fell, the crowd would help them up and ask if they were okay which conveyed such a strong bond between both new and old there was a song for everyone, from old favourites such as 'You're so cheap' to newer songs such as ' The Golden Age of Not Even Trying' there was something there for all to enjoy.
