//Song Review\\ Room D play out the summer with new single 'Your Side of The Bed'
As summer draws to an end and the world begins to slow back into a regular motion, Room D have been busy cooking up a tune to keep the spirit of summer going.
‘Your side of the Bed’ is the latest offering from the Manchester indie 5-piece,(made up of singer Callum McPartland, Bassist Harry Bruce, Rhythm guitarist Jake Spellman, Drummer Paddy Cusack and Lead Guitarist Thomas Melling), who have been killing it with live gigs and exciting single releases over the past 3 years or so.
‘Your side of the bed’ is a song all about being young and stupid, living life and dreaming as you go, a relatable experience for every generation, an energy perfectly captured in the track’s musicality and lyricism.
The track captures your attention from the get-go with a selection of electronic elements intertwined with traditional instrumentation creating a nostalgic energy for the listener before the lyrics even kick in, bringing to mind times past, memories perfectly imperfect when they’re revisited hindsight.
In terms of influences, the sound is very similar to that of Circa Waves and the night Café who are known for creating atmospheres with their music, a key goal this track achieves, with the personal twist Room D, brings to all of their tracks: juicy bass lines that underlay the track’s classic indie vocals and riffs that will have you clicking that rewind button over and over again.
‘Your side of the bed’ is the first track the band wrote and recorded during lockdown in the band’s studio, debuting new lead guitarist, Thomas Melling. The band have a second ep to follow which hasn’t yet been given a release date or a title.
Room D are a shining new star in the Manchester Indie scene and if you aren’t careful, you’ll be missing out on sold-out shows and exciting new music.
