//Song Review// 'Get Out' Oli Barton and the Movement
With the music industry currently on hold, there is no better time to step back and take a good look at how we can make live events safer not only from a health point of view which has been at the forefront of the media recently but also from a general safety point of view, gigs are for everyone and no one should feel unsafe at them, between the heaving crowds and pulsing music, change needs to happen.
‘Get Out’, the latest track from London based indie band Oli Barton and the Movement, and the first from their upcoming album ‘Pipe Dreams’ is a step in the right direction, with the track supporting the women in music charity with its release.
The track is a standout for the band contrasting to their usually fast-paced, and high energy-infused musicality for something little softer that still packs a powerful punch of passion by the time the infectious chorus of ‘Get Out, Get Out ’ hits. This gives the track an extra little shine, allowing the lyrics and meaning to stand at the forefront of the track without being overpowered by its backing track. Sometimes less is more and ‘Get out’ perfectly proves that.
One of the most powerful parts of 'Get Out' is that final section of 'maybe its the clothes she wore' and other comments that very likely we have heard whenever Sexual Assault or harassment come up in the news. The track is well informed and probably one of the most relevant in today's world.
This track is a must-listen for all, and a message that should be shared far and wide so that when we can enjoy live music again, it can begin to be a magic and inspiring experience again for all hopefully without fear that something could happen.
