The common phrase goes that home is where the heart is, whether it’s a person, a favourite place, a memory or, in folk singer-songwriter Sarah Ruth’s case, an ever-shifting feeling rather than a solid place, With sunshine on the horizon and a busy season ahead of many, there has never been a better time to revel in the moments of sweetness in between.
Written after moving from the bustling city of London to the Devon Countryside and inspired by one of her community members' suggestions for a song about raspberries, ’Raspberry Jam’ is a whimsical folk delight that warmly welcomes all to appreciate the moments that make them feel at home.
From the get-go, 'the track is delivered beautifully through a whimsical folk musicality of Ukulele and soft, breathy vocals, which helps to create a musical embodiment comparable to a sweet, sleepy Sunday morning, where everything feels in its right place, even for a moment. The sensation is embodied even more so by the track’s relatable, nostalgic lyricism, which will have even the most city-adoring individual yearning for a sweet jar of countryside bliss, specifically with some raspberry jam on toast.
‘Raspberry Jam’ is a beautifully intimate ode to the countryside, as well as a stunning second single from Sarah Ruth that will enchant Billie Marten and Dodie Fans Alike. All are welcome in Sarah Ruth’s folky world, and it's only just the beginning.
Raspberry Jam is out now. Click the artwork below to check it out.
