Ralph Taylor Interview

In the music industry age doesn't define how talented, hardworking or different you are,Ralph Taylor hasn't let it define him, after his recent run as a Coffee House sessions artist and the success of hes newest single 'My Love' Ralph Taylor is jumping up the stairs of life with a dedication and constant energy.

I interviewed him about the first song he ever wrote, bucket list festivals and what the coffee house sessions tour has meant to him.

What was the first song you ever wrote? The first song I ever wrote was a track called 'Revolution'. This was back in the day when I was in a rap duo with my childhood friend, Jaime Rosso. We were 11 years old and called 'Jr.RT'. We did a music video for it and all. Rizzle Kicks gave us a shoutout and life has never felt so sweet. Do you feel as a young artist that it's easier or harder to do well in the music industry nowadays? I'm not sure if age is relevant. You have someone like Rex Orange County (19) who is killing it at the moment, and then an artist like Passenger (33) who didn't hit the 'mainstream' until his late 20's. I believe everyone makes their own luck, so perseverance is vital. Being young myself, I'm just happy to have time on my side! If you could play any festival, what festival would you play and why? At the moment, I'd have to say Latitude. Being from Suffolk it was the first festival I went to, so it's definitely on my bucket list! Your debut single 'My Love' has been streamed 150,000 times on Spotify in less than a year, first of all, congratulations and how does that feel to be streamed that many times? Thank you! It feels great to know that people have been listening, and hopefully enjoying my music! I'm excited to get some new tunes out there this year and see if we can continue to grow the audience! My next single will be out on 16th March... Excuse the plug! How has your experience on the Coffee House Sessions tour been? The Coffee House tour has been a great experience. I have really enjoyed being on a tight schedule filled with gigs, interviews and lots of travelling. It's given me a great taste of the relentless touring life that hopefully, I'll be getting to know a lot better throughout the rest of my life. The gigs themselves have been a good challenge, with some great ones and some not so great, but that's life ey! I've loved being able to tour the country and play my music to new faces. Also, the amount of interviews and press coverage, in general, has been great practice!
